About Our Farm
Hello, welcome to Joyful Acres! We are a small family farm located in Springfield, Georgia, which is about 45 minutes northwest of Savannah. Among our many animals, we raise Nigerian Dwarf goats, Saanen dairy goats, and Netherland Dwarf rabbits. Our goal is to help you find an animal(s) that is suited to your needs and to make your small farm successful. Please contact us regarding available animal(s) for sale, or if you would like to be placed on a waiting list. We do not ship any of our animals because this causes unnecessary stress to them. Thank you for visiting our site!
ABOUT OUR DAIRY GOATS:
Our passion is to breed Nigerian Dwarf goats and Saanen goats which are excellent milk producers and have correct dairy conformation. For this reason, we have sought to purchase goats which come from bloodlines that are known for these traits. Please visit each breed's page to view the pedigrees of our animals.
Our herd tested negative to the CAE Virus and Johne's Disease in January 2011 by WADDL, and we only purchase goats from CAE-negative herds. We disbud all of our kids unless requested not to do so. All registered breeding stock are tatooed upon request. Our kids are handled daily by adults and children, which promotes friendliness in the animals; therefore, we do not bottlefeed. We do not vaccinate because we endeavor to care for our animals in an all-natural way. All of our kids are kept on our farm with their mother until they are eight weeks old to promote proper development. They can be held for you during that time through a nonrefundable deposit by money order or cash.
Our goats are allowed to browse constantly in addition to being fed free-choice perennial peanut hay; a grain ration consisting of Dawson Gap Naturals' non-GMO, chemical-free 16% Goat Feed with unpasteurized apple cider vinegar sprayed on top; and scraps of fruits and vegetables. At least once a week, they receive garlic powder on their feed to boost their immune system. All of our goats are on a deworming program.
ABOUT OUR NETHERLAND DWARF RABBITS:
Our Netherland Dwarf rabbits are bred to be two to three pounds at maturity and to conform to breed standards of structure and color.
Our kits (baby rabbits) are handled daily by adults and children, which promotes friendliness in the animals. We do not vaccinate because we endeavor to care for our animals in an all-natural way. All of our kits are kept on our farm with their mother until they are eight weeks old to ensure proper development. They can be held for you during that time through a nonrefundable deposit by money order or cash.
All of our rabbits are fed Timothy hay; Dawson Gap Naturals' non-GMO, chemical-free, non-soy Rabbit Pellets; and fresh vegetables and/or fruit. We also add Apple Cider Vinegar to their water.
ABOUT OUR CHICKENS:
We breed our chickens to be efficient egg producers and disease resistant.
For optimum health, it is best to hatch chicks in the late winter/early spring before the intense heat and bacteria of the summer sets in, but if you would like us to hatch some for you out of season, please let us know.
Our chickens are free range, but they are also fed scraps from our kitchen and garden in addition to Dawson Gap Naturals' non-GMO, chemical-free 16% Layer Feed. All of them are on a deworming program.
